A Catholic Nutrition Practice, Built on One Conviction: You Are Not Just a Body to Fix.

How a Red Bell Pepper Changed Everything

Danielle Puno’s path to becoming a Catholic nutrition professional didn’t begin in a classroom — it began with a craving.

During a bout of illness, her body did something unexpected: instead of reaching for comfort food, she had an overwhelming craving for a red bell pepper. She stopped at the store, brought one home, ate it — and felt completely better within five minutes. Not from medicine. Not from rest. From listening to what her body was asking for.

That moment sparked a question she couldn’t let go of: what else is my body trying to tell me? — and, eventually, a deeper one: why did God design a body this intelligent in the first place?

It led her to Bauman College… Before dedicating herself full-time to nutrition, Danielle spent 13 years in education… That background shapes how she works with clients today: with patience, clarity, and a genuine gift for making complex ideas actionable.

What started as a weekend passion for researching and sharing about holistic living became Intuitive Health — a Catholic nutrition practice built on one foundational conviction: the body is not an obstacle to manage, but a gift entrusted to you, made with an inherent wisdom worth listening to. The work is learning to listen — and to steward well what you’ve been given.

My Approach: Root-Cause Nutrition, Rooted in the Whole Person

There is no one-size-fits-all approach to nutrition — and I’ve never believed there was. Every person who walks through my door (or joins me on a virtual call) comes with a unique combination of health history, food sensitivities, hormonal patterns, medical conditions, lifestyle demands, personal goals, and convictions. Your plan has to reflect all of it. Anything less is guesswork — or worse, a failure to see you as the whole person you are.

This is cura personalis in practice: the Ignatian principle of caring for the whole person, not just the presenting symptom. Your body is always communicating with you — cravings, inflammation, fatigue, skin reactions, digestive issues, mood changes, disrupted sleep. These aren’t random. They’re signals. The Church’s Theology of the Body teaches that we don’t have a body the way we have a possession — we are our bodies, body and soul as one integrated whole. So when hormones are imbalanced or the gut-hormone connection is disrupted, it’s never “just physical.” The whole person feels it.

I use functional lab testing alongside a comprehensive health intake to understand what’s happening beneath the surface — not just what’s visible in your symptoms. From there, I build an individualized nutrition plan informed by evidence-based practice, whole-food principles, and a genuine reverence for how your physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual health all connect. For couples pursuing the Natural Fertility Prep Protocol, this also means every recommendation is checked against Church teaching — nothing here will ask you to compromise your convictions for the sake of a faster result.

I also believe sustainable health is built in the long run, not overnight…
